yellows and grays

I made a few photos yesterday. It was nice outside, albeit a bit cold, and I figured now was the best time to head outside and find some nice things to photograph. I must say, I was thoroughly disappointed with the amount of pretty. I found some lovely little blossoms at the side of our building but I couldn't get a nice picture without getting someting stupid in the background, and the few parks we have were all dead and gray, not a single flower or lovely-looking plant in sight.

So I chose to photograph some of the dead weeds instead. A fair few of them turned out boring, but I have one that I'm still not sure of.. And I don't know if I like it better in black and white or as a straight-out-of-camera shot! Here they are, let me know what you think!

Just a quick one

I stumbled upon Wordle (probably as the last person on Earth, but hey) and made one using my blog. Thought I'd share it with you! So now when I start rambling, you can tick off the words in this image. Or something.

4 January 2011

And suddenly, it was 2011, and I realised...

It has been aaaages since I last posted! Let's catch up, shall we?

The last few weeks of 2010 were a bit of a madhouse. The BF changed jobs and is now working from home, which, I have to admit, is already cutting deeply into my crafty time. I don't know, I feel a bit uncomfortable sitting there, fiddling with yarn and needle(s) while he's working... Not that I have that much time to spend on crafting anyway: I've been working on my thesis a lot and work has been very busy.

I did get some craftywork done, though. Since we weren't doing any presents for Christmas (I don't think we actually officially decided this, it just turned out this way), I felt like making at least a tiny little thing to give my family.

They're ornaments made from the tutorial over at Attic24, made in cotton. I made one for my parents, my sister, my brother and his girlfriend, and attached little promises for 2011: a long day of shopping, to go to the cinema, or a concert, or a museum, or to stay at home and make a giant homecooked meal.

I also made a tiny little thing for the boyfriend.

Recognise him?

How about now?

It's the Android logo from Google Android! He's not done yet, though. He still needs feet. Poor boy's been wobbling around like a rocking chair for days.

Then Christmas went and New Year's Eve came around, after a week in which I only had to work twice (ah, bliss) and had some time to spare. So naturally, I spent it on baking biscuits. Zoom Yummy's Tea Cookies to be precise! Being me, I had to change up the recipe, and added half a cup of cocoa to the mix. This made them a bit dry, and taste a lot like cocoa, (not that there's anything wrong with that) so I added a layer of white chocolate on top to counter the taste a bit. Let's call it middle child syndrome and leave it at that.

I made myself a promise to make the original recipe someday soon as well, so I'll be able to tell if the recipe really is good. But if I can fiddle with it and still make yummy cookies, the recipe must be really good. Try it!

And then...

It was 2011. I spent the first hour of this year running around outside, trying to take awesome fireworks-pictures, and this is one of the few that came out great, but it's so much fun to do! I just love fireworks, it's so pretty!

2011 will be a whole new year of opportunities, of trying new things, of expanding my crafting skills, of getting healthy, of finishing Uni, of finding jobs and hopefully keeping them... I don't know about you, but I think 2011 will be an exciting year!
